Broccoli and Almonds

This is an original from an old friend, Landon. Thanks man.


  • 1 1/2 lb. fresh organic broccoli, rinsed, strained and chopped into bite size pieces
  • juice of meyer lemon
  • 1/4 c. sliced almonds
  • 1/2-1 small yellow onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp. red chili flakes
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 T. olive oil
  • 1 T. butter


Step 1

Place broccoli in boiling water and boil for 1 minute. Strain and add to ice bath for 2 minutes. Strain and set aside.

Step 2

Heat oil olive and saute onions on medium to medium high flame until lightly caramelized. About 3-4 minutes.

Step 3

Add chili flakes, almonds and toast for 30 seconds. Add garlic and saute for 30 seconds and then add lemon juice and reduce for 30 seconds. Add broccoli and stir; coat and cook for 2-3 minutes. Season to taste and top with butter. Remove from heat and serve immediately.
